Over the past week we have learned about how to look and apply for a job, mostly around digital arts and the gaming industry. After searching for real job openings online, everyone created their own honest resume and cover letter as if we were to apply for the job that we found. This experienced not only helped us in how and where to locate jobs, but what information do we need to present to our possible employer.
The first thing that we started to do was we searched for a job. We went online websites such as Gamasutra, LinkedIn, Indeed, Career Builder, and Monster. I had found a job that was related to the gaming industry on Gamasutra. I was going to apply for an Environmental Artist for Sanzaru Games Inc. (Job Description Page). I chose this job because I fit a few of the requirements such as knowing how to use Adobe Photoshop, and being able to create 3D models (3DS Max). It's important to know that when applying for a job and you don't have all the requirements, still attempt to apply! Most jobs add many items such as years of experience. In many cases, what matters more is that you have the ability and skill to be able to do the work. After finding the job, we started creating our resumes and cover letters. When creating a resume, it is important to make sure that you mainly use experiences related towards the job you want-other experiences could be there to show some of your skills and qualities such as leadership. It is important that you are honest, because the employer can and may check the information that you have presented. Also, know what you have done to the detail and prepare for questions that they will ask during an interview. This experience has really increased my knowledge, familiarity, and comfort in applying for jobs.

I will be talking about a game I have played over some time now. There is a free online multiplayer game called Slay.one. This game is a flat 3D shooter. The main goal of the game is to shoot other players with your gun. Killing other players gives you more points and whoever has the most points win the game. If you die, you lose points yourself. The controls of the games are used with the "WASD" keys. Also left-click to shoot, right-click to jump, you can use the q and e buttons to use special weapons/abilities. The controls are very effective in the amount each equally impacts the game, but simple. The music is decent. There is not much of the background music, however there are many different sounds for each action done in the game. (I know this isn't done but I have to turn in what I have)
During the past week, our class had watched videos on how video games affected people who played them. We discussed that video games are causes towards lots of bad things in our lives. I agree that playing video games give players many negative attributes, however, there are positive values that are also shown. After class, I couldn't stay still mentally as I realized the impact of certain situations in games. I just kept thinking about how much my experience of games had helped me to grow, understanding the world and the weird people in it more. Although games can take gamers away from the real world, that doesn't mean that games will decrease social skills. Most online games, not all of them, have players to work together with others to accomplish a common goal. This already forces the players to be allied with, well...their allies. Many times there are ways for gamers to communicate to each other in the games. That could be through microphones or through chats. I can even tell from experience that I have talked to random people online learning different styles/ways to talk to them, befriending them. There are players that are called toxic players. "Toxic players may have these certain qualities (https://goo.gl/PKxEai) :
1.Someone complaining on teammates, over things his teammates cant do anything about, making it unnecessary flaming. 2.Someone who is constantly griefing, damaging, or misusing chat. 3.A player who can never take the blame on himself. 4. An abusive player." I've comforted and actually given hope to toxic players to win games. The experience of this actually strengthened me in the real world. I had found myself countless time comforting others, friends or peers, during their personal problems. Because of the game, I had learned how to talk to them in the nicest, most supportive way possible. I've even made lots of jokes, learning how far I can actually push them with different kinds of people. As small as they seem, these experiences have opened my mind, creating me into an accepting person. The situations in the games have had a major positive impact on my personality and who I am today.
Over the past two weeks, we have been learning about gaming throughout history. This past week we have continued our learning of how gaming has evolved. We have learned this through a fun, educational and interesting game called Evoland. Evoland slowly went through the process of how video games were created and updated. It slowly added things such as color sound and different type of game-play. Playing this game was important because what better way to notice change than to experience the differences through a game. On YouTube, there are people playing Evoland on a mobile app. There was a different way to control how to move and attack, through a joystick controller on the phone. This game could be improved by letting the gamer play it with different controllers.
• Gaming has significantly evolved over the years • The game Evoland lets games to experience differences that occurred in the making of video games • There are still more changes that could've somehow been added to Evoland for more historical gaming experience The past week we have been working on an info graphic using Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3ds Max. It has been three months that we haven't used any of these softwares and we needed a refresher assignment. It is very important to first do something easy and simple to slowly remember. If I were to do a large project that affects a huge part of my grade first, then I could really mess up with the work affecting my grade. A main part of this info graphic was to add some information about the work we learned last year. This was achieved by going back to my old work and searching through the notes. The info graphic assignment was key to re-opening skills from the year before.
